For $5 per month you support LOL's operatiing costs. We provide space to learn and share skills for jobs and alernative economies. We aim to enable our disenfranchised communties with the means to thrive independently. We are accesible for the queer, POC, striving and driving, building, painting, unemployed, nerdy, radical, home beekeeping, eceletic, feminist, single parenting, crafting, DIY, hacker, bookworm, yogi,  biking, underpaid, gardener, big sister, activists that make our community. (& If i didn't mention your adjective you should come visit more often!)

About Us:

Founded and led by people of color, LOL! — Liberating Ourselves Locally – is an Oakland Maker Space that works for a future where members of our community can be involved in all aspects of creating things that sustain us, such as food, clothing, energy, technology, shelter, and art.

We are a local movement whose primary purpose is to serve our communities:

We provide space and resources where community folks can learn, play, experiment, and hone their skills while working on projects that they love and enjoy.

Our Goals:

We all need help to grow strong. We want to gain 20 new members per month and 300 members per year!

If we can make this goal we can cover our necessities and create a permanent space for creation, learning and collaboration. Spread the word.

What do members get:

Think about how much you spend at a cafe to use their wifi, at the movies, or on apps for your phone. We're asking for the price of a latte per month to bring you new skills, new community, new films, amazing art and exciting opportunities.

In return you can access free wifi, our business library and workspace, get discounts on events & more. Oh and we always have coffee, tea and snacks in the space so you won't really miss your latte.

Plus when you take a class your class fee becomes a sliding scale contribution you set with your instructor instead of the non-member flat-fee.

Even if you just take one class per month your membership pays you back.

You can contribute to LOL in other ways as well:

• Teach a class
• Host an event
• Rent a space to finish a project or see clients
• Hold performance in the space
• Call a meeting
• Join the admin group and contribute your time
• Write a grant
• Secure donations or supplies
